An Invitation to the Party Leaders

A personalized version of this letter has been sent to each party leader.

Dear Stephen, Jack, Elizabeth, Michael and Gilles

My name is Cameron Fenton and I am writing you on behalf of the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition. This Friday we will be releasing our platform, which includes five demands developed through an intensive coast-to-coast consultation with the youth of this country. Youth will be delivering the platform to your residences and offices starting on Friday as an invitation to join us in creating a safe climate future for all generations. Signing onto our demands represents an opportunity to show your commitment to working with youth as equals, and to rise above the traditional approach of ignoring our concerns in the political arena.

We hope you will make an effort to meet us and accept these demands. Otherwise, we will leave you a copy to look over at your earliest convenience. We will also be sending our demands to all other members of your party by email, likewise asking them to join us by signing on.

We are asking for your signature no later than November 4th, 2011. At that time, we will organize a pan-Canadian delegation of youth to meet you at Parliament Hill. We will be looking forward to encouraging you then to sign on for a safe climate future— or perhaps even celebrating your support!

Thank you for your time. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Cameron Fenton
National Director
